If you have psoriatic arthritis, you have a story to tell. Maybe it’s the young age when you received your diagnosis. Maybe it’s the hardships you navigated to get access to medication that was so desperately needed to keep joint damage from getting worse. Or maybe it’s just your sure determination to push through the pain and live your life to the fullest.
Whatever your story, now is the time to tell it.
The National Psoriasis Foundation and healthcare company Novartis have teamed up with Tongal, a massive, online, crowdsourcing community of creative filmmakers, to create awareness videos aimed to inform the public about psoriatic arthritis and let other patients know they are not alone in their fight. Share your story and one of these videos may feature you, your challenges, your triumphs, and those who supported you on this rollercoaster called psoriatic arthritis.
If you are living with psoriatic arthritis or are a caretaker for someone who is, submit your story by June 13, 2017. In July, NPF will choose its favorites and post on its website. The psoriatic arthritis community will vote in favor of the stories that are the most authentic, compelling, and those that would make the best videos. Two stories will be chosen for The Psoriatic Arthritis Awareness Project and Tongal filmmakers will turn their stories into short documentary films. Also, the individuals who submitted the stories will be compensated for their time and efforts.
Here are some more details from Tongal:
Submissions must include a summary (no more than 500 characters) and a photo of the person whose story is being submitted.
Novartis would like to feature a patient with psoriatic arthritis, but they are also interested in connecting with their family and caregivers and are open to showcasing all points of view.
The video will not mention any specific medical therapy or drug. The purpose of the video is to “bring awareness to the disease, how it affects people, and the relief and hope patients feel when finding out about this disease, and working with their dermatologist or rheumatologist to find what’s right for them.”
Employees of pharmaceutical companies, advocacy organizations, and healthcare practitioners / organizations are not eligible to enter.
